Editing until I drop

Image
Since Wednesday I've been editing non-stop trying to get this film right. My biggest task has been the titles as I want to be perfect. I ended up completely wiping my old title design and going with something else. My original plan just didn't match the feeling of my film anymore. So I had to download new fonts and pictures and start from scratch. That room my about a day but putting them all together is taking the most time. I plan to completely finish the titles tomorrow and review the rest of my edits. So that I can submit my final task that same day. I am using DaVinci Resolve to edit. This high-tech editor allows me to have complete artist freedom just at a click of a button. It was a little tricky to manage at first, but with a few tutorials, I think I've become a master! Luckily, I can devote all of my time to finishing up my edits because I have no other conflicts. Such as work or other homework. I estimate that I will finish up at around 6:00pm leaving one ho

Importing all my clips

I've finally finished filming. I will admit it didn't go as smoothly as I anticipated. However, things happen. I was able to get some stuff film from my original storyboard. But all in all, a lot of the story did change. I reminded myself that this project only is 2 minutes. Also that I just KNOW how my film ends but I only need to capture the beginning of it. This made me relax a bit knowing that I didn't need a climax already. Another thing that also made everything a little hard was the fact that I choose the genre of drama. Drama is one of the more simple genres out of the pack. The conventions arent as showy, so it can be very hard to point out. That's why I plan to make everything come together once I start editing. Currently, I am importing all my clips into my editing software "WonderShare Filmora X". This is my first time using this editor but I am confident enough in my abilities to learn quickly/adapt. Before, with my previous projects, I wou

Rescripting

Image
In my last blog, I stated that I was changing/ adding more to my script for my mother. Before I just had one person, my sister in the film. Now I added in my mother just to be safe. My mother will be playing a mother role so it fits just in her comfort zone. My sister plays the main character. I writing my mom into just a few scenes. About 2-4. She is only a side character. However, if it seems best I make her a main, I will rescript again. My family is very flexible and we already discussed that nothing is final. Again, we plan to resume filming this Saturday and wrap it up early in the morning on Sunday. Editing will start immediately after as this is due on the 16th. Plus, I want a few days to review and calm down a bit. I am very happy with my decision to change the acting to my sister. As I recently sprained my wrists. If I never made the choice, I would have had to postpone filming once again. Procrastination never gets anything done. So I might as well finish while everyth

Ready to flim

Finally, the day has come to film. Last Saturday, I shot a few scenes. But due to unforeseen circumstances, I couldn't film again on Sunday. My sister and I managed to get a few key shots in. However, we will regroup and film the rest this upcoming weekend. My mom even agreed to act in some scenes. This comes in handy in case I need more footage to length my film. Also, if I'm short of shots was editing. This will also help me capture multiple angles from a scene at once. This will also help save a lot of time. As two heads are better than one. I would say that 30s seconds out of the entire film down. So that means only 1 minute and 30 more seconds to go. Of course, I'm going to film over 2 minutes so that I have enough to cut and edit. Until then, I will probably make a few changes to my script and add a character for my mom to play. Giving both of them enough time to remember everything. The changes won't be too drastic. Maybe only shifting everything a little b

Using my backup plan

Image
I gave my body three days to recover. However, I am still not fully healed. With that being said, I will move onto my backup plan. Instead of having myself as the only actress, my sister will stay in my place. I've already talked to her about it and she is down. I will start filming with her on Saturday. This gives us time to prepare and eliminate any problems that could possibly occur. During my spring break, I was able to record some stuff but I will have to scrap it all. Luckily, filming now won't take as long. My sister knows exactly what to do. So everything will be quick. I hope to film everything on Saturday and Sunday. I will immediately start editing that Monday. Giving me time to finalizing everything on that Wednesday. Currently, I am setting up my opening sequence titles. So that when I get to editing they will be easy to upload. All I would have to do is add transitions and animations. I already gave my sister her costume. She will have light makeup and simple ha
